Screwed Four Times
In his blind quest to save money, the turkey in this story managed to screw himself not once, but four times.
- By purchasing his equipment from someone who clearly did not understand what they were selling, the turkey lost out on the opportunity to get the expert advice needed to purchase the right product the first time. If he later discovers that the BC and regulator he bought do not meet his needs, he’ll find himself spending money to replace them — money he could have saved had he only bought the right equipment in the beginning.
- By not having the proper airway installed at the time he bought the BC, he put his life at risk (that, in itself, is more than enough to qualify him for mention in StupidDiverTricks.com).
- He had to pay for the correct airway twice: Once when he bought the BC (and the dealer “forgot” to install it), and again when a legitimate dealer had to fix the first dealer’s error.
- Whatever the turkey supposedly “saved” by buying from an unauthorized dealer will be eclipsed several times over by what he’ll have to pay in additional charges each time he has his equipment serviced, because it does not qualify for warranty coverage.
Don’t be a turkey. Buy your gear from an authorized dealer who will be around in years to come to help care for your equipment — and save you money on warranty service.
